The Asleep In A Hammock Playlist

For my next theme playlist, I give you Asleep in a Hammock – songs about sunshine, dreaming, and summertime. It’s been a struggle for me to not overload you with my favorite artists (one of these days I’m going to give you The Stephin Merritt Playlist, which would pretty much just be my ipod, given the inordinate amount of Merritt I listen to) and this is a particularly varied group of pieces. So close your eyes, forget your worries, and let yourself swing slowly into sleep.

The Asleep in a Hammock Playlist

1. ‘Put Your Records On (Acoustic)’ by Corinne Bailey Rae

2. ‘Vivo Sonhando (Dreamer)’ by Stan Getz & João Gilberto

3. ‘Sand in my Shoes’ by Dido

4. ‘Dreams’ by The Cranberries

5. ‘Sweet Afton’ by Nickel Creek

6. ‘With Whom to Dance?’ by The Magnetic Fields

7. ‘Deep Blue Day’ by Brian Eno

Disclaimer: I don’t own this video. I got it here.

  2. gorgeous.
a playlist is not just finding good songs, but good songs that go well together.

  3. Well thank you for helping me rediscover Corinne Bailey Rae! I never before noticed how the beginning of this song has such an uncanny resemblance to Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds.”
