- and by ‘excellent’, I mean that you hate him/her, feel clean and fresh and free after snapping off the shackles that were him/her’s clutches, and can see the great wide horizon stretching out before you, full of possiblity and hope! Pop this playlist on your speakers and spend six hours or so destroying the evidence that you’ve ever associated with him/her. It’s a blast!
The Excellent Breakup Playlist
1. ‘See You When You’re 40′ by Dido
2. ‘I’m Lonely (And I Love It)’ by The Future Bible Heroes
3. ‘Solsbury Hill’ by Peter Gabriel
4. ‘These Boots Are Made For Walkin” by Nancy Sinatra
5. ‘Walking With a Ghost’ by Tegan and Sara
6. ‘Blue Monday’ by New Order
7. ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’ – ok, I know this is a Bob Dylan tune, but, believe it or not, there’s an incredible version on the “Lady in the Water” soundtrack, performed by Silvertide. Remember that movie? About the aquatic gal and the guy from ‘American Splendor‘? I hope you don’t. I’ve tried my best to wipe it from my memory, and yet it lingers still. Anyhow, this version is real jump-around-air-guitarring. It’s a good ‘un.
Here’s a video of Nancy Sinatra singing, and, I’m pretty sure, not kidding. Honestly. It looks like a joke, but I think the makers of this sparkly delight were dead serious:
My favorite parts are whenever the girls in the background go all frantic and start waving around.
